What are are the differences between George Washington University’s Law degrees?

They have three degrees, so what makes them different, and does one of them focus towards criminology?

The degrees are: Juris Doctor (J.D.),
Master of Laws (LL.M.)
Doctor of Juridical Science (S.J.D.)

JD is the basic law degree.

LLM is a specialization, post JD

SJD is a qualification for law teaching, but really not much else. It is post LLM usually, although some people get it with just a JD and I have heard of programs where other non-law degrees were used to qualify for the SJD.

In law school, a student interested in criminology would take as many criminal law courses as available. One could get an LLM in criminal law if that law program offers one - you have to go where the specialization is offered.

What are the laws around landlords providing hand railings for stairs in Vermont?

If there are two stairs going in to my apartment building, and another two stairs once I get inside the building, do these stairs need to have hand railings? Can I make my landlord install them? Thanks!

You would have to know when the building was built and what the building code requirements were for that year. With the limited information you have given, it is probably fine because there is a sufficient landing between the steps.

Mexico City enacts region’s 1st gay marriage law will this new messure create jobs & keep Mexicans home?

MEXICO CITY – Mexico City enacted Latin America’s first law recognizing gay marriage Tuesday and said it hopes to attract same-sex couples from around the world to wed.

The law, approved by city legislators on Dec. 21, was published in Mexico City’s official register Tuesday and will take effect in March. It will allow same-sex couples to adopt children and municipal officials say it will make Mexico’s capital a "vanguard city" — and attract extra tourism revenues.

"Mexico City will become a center, where (gay) people from all over the world will be able to come and have their wedding, and then spend their honeymoon here," said Alejandro Rojas, the city tourism secretary.

"We are already in talks with some travel agencies that are planning to offer package tours that include flights, hotels, guides, and everything they need for the wedding, like banquets," said Rojas. "We are going to become a city on a par with Venice or San Francisco" — the current leader in the gay travel market segment.

The annual economic impact of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender travelers is about $70 billion in the United States alone, according to Community Marketing Inc., a tourism research company that specializes in gay and lesbian consumers.

Gay marriages of foreigners in Mexico City would presumably only be recognized by countries and states that also have legalized same-sex marriage. An exception is New York State, which doesn’t allow same-sex marriages but which recognizes those which were performed legally in other jurisdictions.

Montana adult probation laws for home searches?

My room mate is on probation for have prescription drugs on him. He is renting a room from me. His probation officer said he can come in and search my whole house when ever he wants. I want to know what my rights are. I have done nothing wrong, so why are they aloud to break my rights and search my belongings. Or is the probation officer full of shit?
well that is not an option i was asking about the law. just because a person makes a mistake does not mean they have to be banned and kicked to the curb.

the PO is correct.

If you are uncomfortable with it, then move this criminal out, and don’t room with other criminals.

How come there are no massacres in the states with gun control?

The three states (actually, jurisdictions) in the US with the strongest gun laws are California, New Jersey, and the District of Columbia. In recent memory, there have been no major massacres in any of those states. All the massacres seem to be in states with weak gun laws, such as Columbine High in Colorado, Virginia Tech in Virginia, and now Fort Hood in Texas.
I am talking about massacres, meaning large scale killings.

California is in ****! Its a lost state, they want our help!

And it wasnt someone that went nuts b/c we dont have strict laws, he was upset and planned to do this b/c he was a wuss who didnt want to hurt his "people" in iraq. He had no balls to stand up for a country that gave him a medical degree, in a country where he borrowed freedom and stole lives.

in Alabama, is it against the law for a 19yo male to say sexual things to or about a 14yo girl?

My little sister has a 19yo boy making sexually derogatory comments to our step sister about our little sister. in fear that he may approach her, i wish to utilize any law that can legally keep him away from her.anyone with factual info about the laws that can protect my little sister would be doing society a major justice. my little sister is small framed and could not fight off an attacker if they were aggressive enough.

She (you/your parents) can apply for a restraining order. Go to the police station and report it.. make it known to him that he has been reported… at least then, if no restraining order is issued, he knows the police know about him.
